12. How do I use My Visa EMV card to make a purchase?
Just like magnetic-stripe cards, EMV cards are processed for payment in two steps: card reading and transaction verification. However, with EMV cards you no longer have to master a quick, fluid card swipe in the right direction. Chip cards are read in a different way.
Instead of going to a register and swiping your card, you are going to do what is called ‘card dipping’ instead, which means inserting your card into a terminal slot and waiting for it to process.
When an EMV card is dipped, data flows between the card chip and the issuing bank to verify the card’s legitimacy and either approve or decline a transaction depending on the current position of the card and/or account.
13. Why are Visa EMV cards more secure than traditional cards?
A chip, which is that small, metallic square on your Visa card, creates a unique transaction code that cannot be used again unlike magnetic-stripe cards making them difficult to hack.
14. Will I still have to sign or enter a PIN for my card transaction
You will have to do one of those verification methods, but it depends on the verification method tied to your Visa EMV card and also on the retail outlet. Majority of the outlets will require you to verify your card transaction using a PIN.
15. Card Security:
Do not disclose your PIN to third parties and do not save your PIN details with your card.Categories : Banking Solutions
